The Barossa German Language Association Inc. invites you to their annual Barossa Lantern walk (Laternenlauf in German) – a favourite German family tradition. The after dark family event will be held on Saturday the 4th of August in Nuriootpa.
The idea is that the German speaking community celebrates this as a cultural family event and everyone who is interested can join. Kids can make their own lanterns from 4pm in a craft corner, there will be some rehearsal of German songs and an after dark walk around the Barossa Village in Nuriootpa, followed by German style food and beverages in the Joy Rice Centre.
All families, including grandparents, are very welcome to join us at 6pm for the walk to sing the German songs “Laterne, Laterne” and “Ich geh mit meiner Laterne”.
Make your own lantern at home (battery candles available for purchase on the night, no real candles please) or get creative from 4pm (Parents to assist young children, cost is $5 per lantern).
14 Scholz Avenue, Joy Rice Centre
Food and Drinks available for purchase from 5pm (German Sausage /Roll, Glűhwein/ drinks /tea/ coffee/ German cake…, cash only)
