The Barossa German Language Association Inc. has endeavoured to promote the learning of the German language and the preservation of the German language and culture in the Barossa Valley and surrounding districts.
We have several groups running at the moment, Kaffee und Kuchen, Spielgruppe, visits to the Barossa Village and Adult German Language classes.
The one thing that has been missing for the past few years has been the engagement of primary school aged children. Some children learn German at school and some speak German or have contact with German speaking family and we would very much like to encourage these children to keep learning and speaking the German language.
We are very excited to announce that we are starting Kinder Klub (Children’s Club), commencing Term 2 this year.
The aim of the Kinder Klub is to enable children to learn the German language through play and hearing it spoken in a natural, everyday way. There will be German games, books, puzzles, draw- ing, writing, cooking and music. The full programme has still to be prepared, but we have a broad overview of what we would like to achieve.
The Kinder Klub will be held each Thursday, from 4pm to 5.30pm during school term, at the Langmeil Centre, Maria Street, Tanunda, commencing 30th April 2020.
It is for primary school aged children, but younger children are welcome, with parental supervision.
The cost will be $10 per family per session, and families are asked, because of various dietary requirements, to send along a snack for their child/children.
