The next Kaffee und Kuchen will be preceded by a German luncheon of goulash, red cabbage and spaetzle at 12 noon.

Dagmar Preusker will be our guest speaker, local Barossa resident and her life and her experience as a German migrant child in NSW.

Some Notes from Dagmar:
I will be talking about my experiences as a German migrant child in NSW, especially the race hatred that was experienced post World War 2 in NSW. I will make the comparison to the way Germans were treated in NSW compared to my experiences in Western Australia and South Australia. I will also touch on the housing experiences in the 1960s where rental accommodation was limited and many times caravans and garages were home.

Geboren August 3 , 1956 in Nürnberg, Deutschland.
Wir sind im Jahr 1961 ausgewandert nach Australien. Wir verbrachten drei Wochen in Bonegilla dann sind nach Nowra gezogen. Später sind wir umgezogen nach Windang in der nähe von Wollongong, dann wieder zurück nach Nowra.
Im Jahr 1968 sind wir nach Western Australien gezogen.
Für meine Schulung besuchte ich Kindergarten in Deutschland, Grundschule in NSW, Sekundärschule in WA und Uni in Süd Australien.
Im Jahr 1978 bekam ich meine erste Stelle als Lehrerin in Angaston. Dort habe ich meinen Mann kennengelernt und meine Wanderungen sind aufgehört. Ich hatte in 21 verschiedenen Wohnungen in 20 Jahren gelebt.
1979 waren John und ich geheiratet und im Jahr 1981 und 1984 waren unsere zwei Jungs geboren.
1986 bin ich wieder in Lehrdienst gegangen.
Während mein arbeits Jahren arbeitete ich zwanzig Jahren als Deutschlehrerin, zwanzig Jahren als
Klassenlehrerin und acht Jahren als Ersatzlehrerin.
Ich habe drei Enkelkinder, zwei Mädchen und ein Junge.
