Kaffee und Kuchen

Kaffee und Kuchen Februar ’25

When: Monday 24 February 2025, 1 – 3pm
Where: Langmeil Lutheran Church hall, 5-7 Maria St, Tanunda

John Clarke will be our speaker and he told us that his presentation “Living Ancestors: my approach to family history” will be in English.

Born in Henley Beach, John holds a Master of Arts from the University of Adelaide, specialising in Anglo-Saxon, Middle English, and Old Norse. He spent nearly 30 years teaching at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School in Western Australia before returning to South Australia, where he and his wife Kathleen settled in the Barossa Valley—an area with deep family connections dating back to his great-great-grandparents in Bethany and Tanunda.

John is a founding member of the Barossa German Language Association and the author of thirteen children’s books. With a rich background in language, literature, and education, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with us. We look forward to his insights!

Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake) is a monthly gathering to listen to a guest speaker and speak German. On the last Monday of the month we meet to listen to a guest speaker, chat in German and enjoy Kaffee und Kuchen. New members and visitors are always welcome
