A Unique Musical Experience

It is rare that a musician of Clemens Leske’s stature and experience presents a concert outside of a capital city and rarer still with ticket prices low enough for all lovers of classical music to attend.

Thanks to the generosity of Chateau Tanunda, which has opened the doors to its historic winery, providing the spectacular venue for the world class performance, and grants from the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Barossa Council, prices have been kept low ($40 adult, $35 concession).

Konzert at the Chateau, presented by the Barossa German Language Association, on Sunday, 26 November will be the grand finale of Adelaide German Week and the only event held outside of Adelaide. It is fitting that the Barossa Valley, the centre of German immigration to South Australia in the nineteenth century, should be chosen, and that Clemens Leske, the descendant of early German settlers, should be invited to perform. His programme, reflecting the theme of Adelaide German Week, will combine classical German music (Schubert and Beethoven) and modern Australian (Carl Vine).

Clemens Leske is currently Senior Lecturer in Piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He studied music in the United States, being awarded the degree of Bachelor of Music with Distinction by the Juilliard School of Music in New York. In Australia he has been a piano soloist with the Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Western Australian, Tasmanian and Queensland Symphony orchestras. He has performed at venues in Spain, the United Kingdom, Singapore, New Zealand, the United States, Hungary and China, including London’s Royal Festival Hall and the Sydney Opera House.

The concert will commence at 2pm with German food and drink on sale at the venue from 12.30.
