Kaffee und Kuchen July 2017 with AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Barossa German Language Association (BGLA) will be held on Monday, 31st July 2017. Starting an hour earlier than usual (12 noon) we will serve some German style food (sausages and bread rolls as well as German potato cakes with apple sauce, Kartoffelpuffer mit Apfelmus). We meet in the Langmeil Lutheran Church Hall, 7 Maria Street, Tanunda. New members and visitors are always welcome.

The guest speaker this month is Dr Wolfgang Preiss. Dr Wolfgang Preiss, Geologist, Visiting Honorary Research Fellow, University of Adelaide and Geological Survey of South Australia. Wolfgang Victor Preiss was born in 1944 to Austrian parents in Shanghai. Twice in their lives his mother and father sought a safe haven from political situations beyond their control. Having arrived with his parents at the age of five, Wolfgang did all his schooling in Adelaide and then studied Geology at Adelaide University. In 1968 he married Aileen Luhrmann, and they have a son, a daughter and two grand- sons. Wolfgang has recently retired after working for the South Australian Government at the Geological Survey of South Australia on various aspects of the State’s geology for 46 years. He is now continuing his research in an honorary capacity. Dr Preiss will tell us about aspects of his family experiences.

Kaffee und Kuchen Juli 2017 mit Jahresvollversammlung

Die Jahresvollversammlung der Barossa German Language Association wird am Montag, den 31. Juli 2017 stattfinden.
